William George "Bill" Bevan, 74, formerly of Ocala, FL, passed away on May 12, 2023, at his home in Taylors, SC. Bill was born on April 14, 1949, in Scranton, PA, to William and Eleanore Bevan. He married Ruth, his high school sweetheart, in 1970. He joined the US Air Force after high school, serving as a military police officer on the U-Tapao Air Force Base in Thailand during the Vietnam War. After leaving the US Air Force, he earned an Associates degree and became an industrial engineer in Eastern Pennsylvania. Bill then had his own residential construction company for a few years before moving to Florida in 1990. He taught architectural drafting in Marion County Public Schools for several years before retiring. He and Ruth enjoyed traveling, often visiting the Caribbean, and twice visited their daughter and family in Uganda, East Africa. Bill loved serving the Lord behind the scenes by offering his building expertise to various ministries.
Bill is survived by Jennifer, his daughter, and son-in-law, Dan Olachea; four grandchildren, Cara, Vicki, Jonathan, and Julia Olachea; and his brother and sister-in-law Ron and Tina Bevan, and sister and brother-in-law Sharon and Jim Pate. He joins his parents, his beloved wife Ruth, and his daughter, Heather, in the presence of his Savior.
A celebration of Bill's life will be held on June 13, 2023, from 2-3 pm in the fireplace room at Faith Baptist Church, 500 W. Lee Rd, Taylors, SC.
