William Arthur Boyea, known affectionately as Bill to his friends and family, passed away peacefully at home on July 22, 2025. Born on March 27, 1941, in Detroit, Michigan, as the son of the late Arthur and Mildred (Bell) Boyea.
He is survived by his wife, Sally; children, David (Maggie) Boyea of Amherst, NH, Rene Acker of Fort Gratiot, Nicole (Dave) Jones of Naperville, IL, Robert (Carrie) Boyea of West Chester, PA, Melissa (Mitch Mihora) Boyea of Fort Gratiot, and Kevin (Laura) Boyea of Marysville; grandchildren, Madeleine, Kate, Grace, Alex, Elizabeth (Wentz), Andrew, Ben, Samantha, Anna, Eli, Audrey, William, Alex, Charlie, Thomas, and Samuel; his great-grandchild, Wentz; as well as his in-laws, Joyce Boyea, Celia Boyea, Arthur (Susie) Smith, and Susan Lucas, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Mildred (Bell) Boyea, and his siblings, Thomas Boyea, Norm Boyea, and Marianne (Jere) Werton.
Bill's early education began at Sacred Heart High School in Dearborn and led him to his Bachelor's Degree from Ferris State University in Business. He met Sally Smith on a blind date, set up by good friends and were married June 21, 1969, at St. Edward on the Lake Catholic Church. His professional life was a testament to his commitment and work ethic, serving as the Probate Court Administrator for Macomb County for nearly three decades. His retirement years were as fulfilling as his career, enjoying another three decades of well-earned leisure and family time.
Throughout his life, Bill was a man of many interests. From his youthful days of hunting and trapping to playing hockey, ping pong, and pool, he always embraced the joys of life. His love for garage sales and helping neighbors showcased his generous spirit. Bill had a passion for home renovations for anyone. Family was the cornerstone of Bill's life, and he cherished every moment spent with them, whether it was on the lake watching the boats or simply being in their presence.
Known for his 5 o'clock cocktails, Bill was a gracious host with a great sense of humor. Despite his many accomplishments and the respect he garnered, Bill remained a humble man, never seeking the spotlight, preferring instead to let his actions speak for themselves. William Arthur Boyea's memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of those who knew him best. As we bid farewell to Bill, we celebrate a life well-lived and a man well-loved.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. at St. Edward on the Lake Catholic Church, 6945 Lakeshore Rd, Lakeport, MI 48059. Father Lee Acervo will officiate. Arrangements were entrusted to Grace Memorial-Smith Chapel.
