William Brash Obituary
William Lee “Willie” Brash, 84, of Oak Hill passed away peacefully on Monday, January 27, 2025, at CAMC Memorial Hospital in Charleston, WV, where he was surrounded by his loved ones until the very end.
Born in Oak Hill, WV, on July 27, 1940, William was the son of the late Thomas Kay Brash and Lillian Mary Lindsay Brash. He married Willie Sue Brash in 1962, and she preceded him in death 2009. Together they had four sons; twins Keith and Kevin who died shortly after birth in 1963, David Lee Brash (Kim) of Logan, WV, and William Brent Brash (Chris) of Fayetteville, WV. He was most proud of his three grandchildren: Brent Brash II, DO (Brittany) of Scott Depot, WV; Hunter Brash of Fayetteville, WV; and Ashley Brash, Esq of Oak Hill, WV. He was so proud that his family always remained close, celebrating every holiday, many trips, vacations, and family events together. He never missed an opportunity to introduce them and let everyone know how proud he was.
Willie was an auto mechanic his entire life and operated Brash Garage in Hilltop, a business founded by his Dad, from 1958 until his retirement in September 2017. He was so happy in 2022 when the garage building returned to family ownership and was renovated to the family man cave. He was an active member of the Oak Hill Fire Department from 1961 until the last few years when his health wouldn’t allow him to respond to calls. However, even then, he kept his pager on and listened to what was happening.
He will be missed terribly by his beloved cat, Gracie.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas David Brash and Robert Lindsay” Bob” Brash, and his sister, Jean Kay Brash Lavender, as well as brothers-in-law, John Alexander and Frank “Bob” Lavender. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Peggy Broughman, Judy Alexander, and Sadie Brash, a brother-in-law Walter Alexander, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, January 31, 2025, at Tyree Funeral Chapel in Oak Hill, WV.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 3:00 PM at the Tyree Funeral Home Chapel in Oak Hill with Pastor Delmas Wolfe officiating. Burial will follow at High Lawn Memorial Park in Oak Hill.
Pallbearers will be friends and family.
