William Chirico Obituary William R. 'Shoes' Chirico, 75, of Amsterdam passed away Tuesday, February 18th, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Born in Amsterdam, NY on September 6, 1949 a son of the late Albert and Margaret Musillo Chirico. He was a lifelong area resident and attended Amsterdam Schools.
Billy was a Firefighter for over 13 years with the Amsterdam Fire Department. He then started a successful career as a Car Salesman, first for the former Amsterdam Chrysler Plymouth Dodge and later Brown's Ford. He truly enjoyed working in the automobile industry. Bill last worked for Brown's Transportation as a School Bus Driver in Amsterdam.
He also enjoyed golfing at Amsterdam Muni Golf Course and several other golf courses throughout the area. He also enjoyed watching sports. Above all watching his children and grandchildren. Bill was also an avid fan of the NY Yankees and NY Giants. He was an avid card player and enjoyed horse racing and gambling on occasion.
Bills family was his life. He strove to do everything in his power for them. Spending time with family and friends was his greatest joy.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam.
Billy married Sandra Semyone Chirico on January 30, 1971. In addition to his loving wife Sandy he is survived by his beloved children, Wiliam A. (Kimberly) Chirico of Amsterdam and Lynne Chirico of Hagaman, NY. Cherished grandchildren, Vinny and Christopher Chirico, Antonia Aldi and Addie Dunham. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Margaret, his beloved son, Anthony Chirico in 1997. He is also predeceased by his sister, Raffaella "Rae" Stearns, and brothers, Anthony 'Sonny' Chirico and John Chirico. His Mother and Father In-law, Joe and Shirley Semyone Sr. along with his brother-in-law, Sammy Semyone and sister-in-law, Karen Wassell.
On behalf of Billy his family would like to thank Community Hospice, Dr. Hardies, and his dear niece, Cheri Gifford for the amazing care he received during his fight.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic 39 St. John St., Amsterdam with the Very Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis E.V. as celebrant. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday prior to the Funeral Mass from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church.
Private interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205.
