William Patrick "Bill" Coomes

William "Bill" Patrick Coomes, 77, of St. Wendel, Indiana, passed away Monday, March 10, 2025 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital.
Bill was born in Evansville, Indiana on January 9, 1948 to the late William and Mary (Purdy) Coomes. He was a 1966 graduate of Mater Dei High School. Bill honorably served in Vietnam as a cook in the United States Army. He retired from Whirlpool after 44 years when the company left Evansville. In his free time, Bill enjoyed playing clabber, watching western movies, and listening to country music. He was also an excellent cook. Above all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed.
Bill is survived by his wife of 45 years, Dwan (Sabel) Coomes of St. Wendel, IN; daughter, Mary Coomes of Evansville, IN; sons, James Coomes (Amy) of Evansville, IN and Patrick Coomes (Mary) of St. Wendel, IN; siblings, Mike Coomes, Margaret Barrett (Joe), James Coomes, Jeannie Coomes, and Helen Coomes; grandsons, Ian and Samuel Coomes; and several beloved step-siblings, nieces, and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Robert and Lawrence Coomes.
A celebration of Bill's life will be held at a later date.
