William Danek Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Countryside Funeral Home - Three Bridges on Nov. 17, 2024.
Hillsborough, NJ-William Edward Danek, Jr., 85, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington, NJ. Born and raised in Plainfield, NJ, he was the son of the late William Edward and Amelia M. (Keiderling) Danek. After high school, he moved to Dunellen, NJ, and later purchased his first home and a boat in the Brenton Woods section of Brick, NJ. Ultimately, he settled in Neshanic Station, NJ, where he raised his family in Hillsborough, and created countless cherished memories in their beautiful home over the span of 50 years.
A proud graduate of Plainfield High School's Class of 1967, William served honorably in the United States Army, earning a rifle N1 sharpshooter award. He dedicated many years as a machine operator with Sterling, Bemis, and Okonite, and he also worked as a painter with his cousin. A meticulous craftsman and handyman, he took great pleasure in assisting his children and extended family with home improvements. Many will say that William would be the first person to help out someone in need. Born on flag day, he was a patriotic man who was a proud supporter of the wounded warrior foundation.
Family was central to William's life. His home was a welcoming place for gatherings and celebrations. His favorite place was the Jersey Shore, where summers were spent on Rutherford Lane in Lavallette, NJ, surf fishing and ensuring family and friends enjoyed every moment. A fan of Rutgers athletics, William attended football and basketball games and wore an RU hat most places he went. He also cherished time at hunting camp, visiting casinos, and watching his grandchildren's sporting events and activities.
He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him. Besides his parents, William was predeceased by his beloved wife, Nancy Lee (LaBounty) Danek, on September 26, 2024, and his sister, Mary Ann Gwiazda. William is survived by his two adored children, Matthew Danek (Jennifer) and Cheryl Pieroni (Anthony); three cherished grandchildren, Anthony, Amelia, and Daneka whom he adored; three step-grandchildren, Christopher, John, and Lilian, whom he loved; his dear sister, Nancy Lepoidevin; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of whom he loved.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial mass on Saturday, November 23, at 2:00 p.m., at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church, 105 Summer Road, Three Bridges, NJ 08887, officiated by Fr. Thomas J. Serafin, VF, KCHS. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home, Three Bridges, NJ. Bill was always a pleasure to be with. A gentle man who enjoyed being around people but in a quiet way. Liked to talk about outdoor activities like hunting and fishing while holding a beer or a cigarette. He will be missed.
