William Roland Darragh, III, 74, a resident of Harleysville, PA, since 1996, passed away on Monday morning, May 13, 2024, at Grand View Hospital in Sellersville, PA, with family at his side. He and his wife, Carol (Fenstermacher) Darragh, would have celebrated their 28th wedding anniversary on May 18th of this year.
Born December 13, 1949, in Atlanta, GA, he was a son of the late William R. Darragh, Jr. and Martha (Neely) Darragh. He was a 1968 graduate of Lakeside High School in Atlanta, Georgia. He was a United States Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in Taiwan and California, and was honorably discharged in 1972. Bill spent his working life in sales and was a sales manager with American Shower and Bath in Moorestown, NJ. Later, he was employed by Croydex, a bath fixture company based out of the United Kingdom. He also consulted with numerous product manufacturers working to get their products placed in hardware stores across the country.
Bill was passionate about most everything that he did. He believed deeply in the art of the negotiation and always worked to get the best deal possible. He was a talented "grill master" and "short order cook" in Bill's Grill. His love of the water was obvious in his collection of sailboats, parties hosted by the pool, and his beloved beach vacations. In his later years, Bill loved to travel with his wife, Carol, and they sailed the seas to lovely locations on several cruises.
Bill was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Souderton, PA and held a deep faith in God. Bill also believed in community and was known around the neighborhood to lend a helping hand and always had an invite to come over and swim at the pool.
Most of all, Bill loved his family. His pride in his family was a common topic of conversation, even with strangers. He didn't hesitate to sled down hills or hop in the pool with his grandkids, even after several back surgeries. "Paw Paw" as he was known, delighted in his grandchildren with whom he became the best version of himself.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Jeffery L. Darragh and his wife, Meleah, of Atlanta, GA, and William R. Darragh, IV, of Fort Mill, SC; two stepdaughters, Caroline A. Lock (Deitch) and her husband, Matthew, of Conshohocken, PA, and Rachelle D. Egerton (Deitch) and her husband, Jonathan, of King of Prussia, PA; three brothers, Lee Darragh and his wife, Marlyn, of Gainesville, GA, Timothy Darragh and his wife, Dawn, of Pasadena, MD, and Patrick Darragh and his wife, Nancy, of Panama City Beach, FL; a half-sister, Sarah Rogers and her husband, Michael; and 13 grandchildren. He was also survived by his stepmother, Myrna Darragh of Easton, MD; and his former wife, Julie Simpkins of Atlanta, GA. He was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Cox.
Family will receive friends from 1-1:45 pm on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 69 W. Broad St., Souderton, PA, where the public memorial service will begin at 2 pm. Interment will be private. For those desiring, contributions may be made in his memory to E-Meal Ministry at Emmanuel Lutheran Church at the address above, or to Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org. Arrangements are by the Williams-Bergey-Koffel Funeral Home, Inc. of Franconia Township, PA.
