Obituary of William E Davidson, Jr.
William E. "Bill" Davidson, Jr.
William E. "Bill" Davidson, Jr., age 62, passed away peacefully on the morning of Friday, February 10. Bill was born in Chester, PA the loving son of William E. Davidson Sr. and Joan (Rodarmel) Davidson.
Bill was a graduate of Sun Valley High School and earned a bachelor's degree in Accounting from Bloomsburg University. He was employed as an Accounting Consultant and was also the ultimate entrepreneur having started and owned several businesses throughout his life.
Bill has resided in Phoenixville, PA for the past 25 years, and was very active in his community. In January of this year, he was honored by the borough of Phoenixville for his service as a member and chairperson of the Planning Commission and the Human Relations Commission. His hard work and dedication were instrumental in revitalizing Phoenixville during his quarter century as a resident.
As a pillar of the LBGTQIA+ community in Chester County for decades, Bill served as chair of the local Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Chapter and was a co-founder of "Our Night Out", a local LBGTQIA+ social group. Bill was a tireless supporter of The Attic Youth Center, Philadelphia's only LBGTQIA+ Youth Center whose focus is helping LBGTQIA+ youth develop into healthy, independent, civic-minded adults. In the early 2000's, Bill along with other brave community leaders, started the first Pride Festival in Phoenixville, long before it was safe to be out and proud. Without Bill, the LBGTQIA+ community in Chester County would not be where it is today.
Bill enjoyed the beach, animals, especially dogs, and bowling. Bill was a member of the SGBL Bowling League and served as president for the last several years. He was also an avid runner and completed his first marathon in May of 2022.
In addition to his parents, Bill is survived by sisters Deborah Bergen (John), Sharon Davidson, Carol Greene (John) and Janeann Davidson, and his brother, Jack Davidson (Michele) as well as four nieces and four nephews. His sister, Joan Swope, predeceased him in 2011.
Bill loved and was loved by his family and countless friends. Throughout his life Bill had a gift for bringing the very best people together. He will be dearly missed.
A Celebration of Bill's Life will be held on Sunday February 19, 2023, at the R. Strunk Funeral Home 400 Main Street Phoenixville, PA. Visitation will be held in the funeral home Sunday from 1:00 – 3:00 pm, with a celebration of life service starting at 3:00 pm.
