Presque Isle – William J. Davis (Bill/Billy), 73, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at the Aroostook House of Comfort with a small family party just as he would have wanted. Surrounded by his loving wife, children and grandchildren holding his hands, reading poems and sharing tears of sadness and joy as they told his greatest tales. Bill was born in Presque Isle on January 22, 1950, the son of Chester and Alice (Harrington) Davis.
Bill was an avid road runner with a true passion for loving people. Many have reached out saying they will miss seeing him riding around town in his "toaster" car that went about five miles per hour at most. Bill made people smile and laugh everywhere he went. He loved to have company and was a great story teller to anyone that stopped by for a beer, just be sure to bring your own.
Some of Bill's talents and hobbies included golfing, golf club repair, cooking, baking, photography, woodworking, visiting the ducks at AR Gould, spending time at camp, fishing and anything else that involved his family and children.
Bill was very active in Pine Tree Camp in Rome, Maine due to his lifelong battle with Polio. Bill was dealt a tough hand during his childhood as a result of polio but he viewed it as a tremendous blessing to be able to give back throughout his life and was incredibly thankful for the work that the Hyde Home did providing his care and recovery in Bath, Maine as a young child.
Bill was proud to be an active member of the Elks Lodge and previously held the title of Exalted Ruler.
Bill was predeceased by his parents Chester and Alice Davis of Presque, two baby sisters and several grandparents and great grandparents.
Bill is survived by his loving and caring wife Dianna of 43 years whom he met during his time working at The Northeastland, his greatest sources of pride and joy were his beautiful children Shelly Marie Condon and her husband Darren of Fort Fairfield, Tania Maria Boardman and her husband Dana of Fort Fairfield, and his son and best friend Trampus Reid Davis and his wife Cara Miller of Presque Isle ME. Bill (& Dianna) were also blessed with seven delightful grandchildren, Noah Riley Caron, Justin Reid Davis, Riley Reid Davis, Meghan Marie Boardman, Olivia (Tommi) Joy Boardman, Sheldine Marie Ann Condon and Neffy Maria May Condon. Bill also leaves behind four sisters, Sherry and her husband Gary Hall, Rose and her husband Danny Morrissey, Jennie and her husband Tom Lahue, Tina and her husband Keith Hackett as well as one baby brother Chester (Chet) and his wife Shari Davis. Along the way, Bill also developed several close friendships, far too many to share but each and every one a blessing in his life.
Relatives and friends are invited to call 2:00 PM Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, where a service will be conducted at 3:00 PM.
