It is with profound sadness that we share the unexpected passing of William (Bill) Richard Delmore, 76, on December 30, 2024, at Health First's Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Florida. He passed peacefully with his devoted wife, Elizabeth (Beth), by his bedside, following injuries and complications from an automobile accident in Merritt Island, Florida.
Bill was born on February 25,1948, in Mitchel Field, New York, to John Richard Delmore and Margaret Frances Sullivan. He graduated from George C. Marshall High School in Falls Church, Virginia, and began his career with the United States Postal Service (USPS) while studying computer science at his local community college. Bill later joined the federal government workforce at the Department of Health, Education and Welfare (HEW), pioneering in computer data entry. He continued his career at the House Information Systems (H.I.S), supporting data processing efforts for the U.S. House of Representatives. Driven by his entrepreneurial spirit, Bill founded three separate technology-focused defense contracting companies, which he dedicated himself to passionately.
Upon retirement, Bill enjoyed coaching baseball and softball for his children. His passions included thoroughbred horse racing, baseball, reading, cooking, movies, and continuously learning. Above all, Bill was a man of unwavering faith. A devout Catholic, he deeply valued his relationship with God and began each day with prayer and attending mass.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Elizabeth (Beth); his five children Kathleen, Daniel (Cecilia), Jonathan (Mai), Caitlin, and William; his three grandchildren Christopher, Mathew, and Kelsey; his great-grandson Brixton; his two brothers John (Jack), and Dennis; his father's wife, Yvonne; and his half-brother, Derrick. He is preceded in death by his father, John Richard Delmore; his mother, Margaret Frances Sullivan; and his daughter, Theresa Ann Delmore.
Bill will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of hard work, faith, and love for family will always be remembered.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church at 12:00 PM on Friday, January 24, 2025. Burial will follow at Fairfax Memorial Park at 1:30 PM, with a reception afterward. The family invites friends and loved ones to share their favorite memories of Bill as they celebrate his life.
