William Edwards Obituary

William "Billy" Edwards III, born May 12, 1962, in Norfolk, VA, took his final bow on December 5, 2025, right where it all began, in his beloved Norfolk. Billy graced this world with 63 years of quiet humor and a distinctive knack for turning even the dullest of moments into side-splitting laughter.

Having spent many years working with Stihl Outdoor Power Industries, Billy was known for keeping things running smoothly, both at work and in life. A true craftsman, he mastered the art of fixing things, including a stiff drink when hanging out with friends.

A man of few words and many laughs, his witty spirit was only matched by his deep love for dogs and a well-crafted joke. With a penchant for partaking in spirits with his close-knit group of friends, Billy knew how to make every gathering feel like a legendary event, even if it started with just "a quiet drink." His best friend and partner-in-crime, Arthur Madden, will surely attest to that.

Though preceded in death by many family members and friends, those left to cherish Billy's memory include Arthur and his family, along with a multitude of bar friends who could always count on Billy for a hearty laugh and perhaps an impromptu philosophical debate over a pint.

In typical Billy fashion, he's postponed his services to a later date and time-so stay tuned for that upcoming gathering, sure to be filled with tales of his many antics. Arrangements are being handled by Altmeyer Funeral Homes and Crematory in Virginia Beach, VA, where they're likely scratching their heads over a fitting way to honor such a legend.

While our worlds seem a little quieter without his unique brand of humor, Billy's legacy will continue to echo in our hearts and laughter. Rest easy, Billy; we'll raise a glass to you.
