William Charles Evans was born on March 10, 1947, to Perry Evans Jr. and Bertha (Johnson) Evans in Naples, Texas. He peacefully passed away at home on Friday, March 21, 2025.
William was a dedicated member of Mount Mitchell Church of Christ in Omaha, Texas, where he served as a Sunday School teacher, Bible study leader, and played a key role as one of the church's leaders. He also led the food bank drive there. A proud graduate of JJ Rhodes High School, William was an active band member. He was a lifelong learner, nearly completing his law degree, falling just 20 hours short. He attended Hustson-Tillotson College, Austin, Texas. He proudly served in the United States Army as a paratrooper during the Vietnam War, where he was wounded during his first air flight and was later recognized as a marksman. He worked for General Motors in Arlington, Texas, for 36 years before retiring. William had a great passion for raising cattle.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Perry Evans, Jr. and Bertha Evans, and two brothers, Melvin Joe Evans, and Michael Evans.
William is survived by his two sons, William Evans and Jonathan Evans, both of Omaha, Texas; two daughters and sons-in-law, Shanette Evans Francis (Eric Blackmon) of Omaha, Texas, and Emile Blaine (Vincent) of Dallas, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; his brother, Delwyn Evans of Tyler, Texas; his sisters, Joyce Cotton of Omaha, Texas, and Geraldine Shepherd of Dallas, Texas; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends who will cherish his memory.
