William Thomas (Tom) Evans, 59, passed away on May 26, 2025 at his home near Uniontown, Arkansas.
Tom was born on December 23, 1965 to Marilyn and John Evans in Phoenix, Arizona. Tom, mysteriously referred to as "Walter" by his neighbors in Arizona, and affectionately referred to as "Wally" by his big sister, was a fiercely loyal son, brother, friend, and husband.
After moving to Littleton, Colorado in 1971 with his family, Tom became part of the famous 1973 Littleton Leopards football team, helping win the city championship played in Mile High Stadium.
After a move back to Arizona with his family in 1976, Tom developed into a skilled angler, winning fishing competitions on McCormick Ranch in Scottsdale. It was in Scottsdale, during his freshman year at Chaparral High School, that Tom met and became great friends with, Tim McWilliams - who eventually became Tom's best man at his wedding. Tom was an enthusiast of early model FJ-40 Toyota Land Cruisers and was introduced to "Cruisers" by Tim. Tom always had great stories to tell about his time four wheeling with Tim in the "Radical Beast" that was Tim's Land Cruiser.
In the summer of 1981, Tom moved to Wichita, Kansas with his family where he attended high school at the old original Maize High School, until switching over to and graduating from Wichita Northwest High School, in 1984.
After high school, Tom's odyssey of travels continued with stops in Houston, Texas, Chula Vista, California, and Prescott and Prescott Valley, Arizona, until finally settling with his wife, Leslie, in Arkansas.
While in California, Tom trained to repair computers, running his own business for many years. Tom excelled at customer service, no matter the job. During his time working for Ace Hardware in Arizona and Arkansas, Tom, on multiple occasions, not only provided assistance at the store, but at customer's homes, too - not a common service to be found these days.
It should be noted that Tom was an aficionado, a connoisseur, of all things silly. Tom's appreciation for humor and his infectious laugh will always be remembered.
Tom is survived and will be missed by his mother, Marilyn Evans of Van Buren, Arkansas; sister, Janice Ryan of Woodinville, Washington; brother John Mossberger of St. Charles, Missouri, brother Tim Evans of Lawrence, Kansas, and wife Leslie of the home. He was preceded in death by his father, John T. Evans.
"What surprises me most about humankind is that we get bored of our childhood, rush to grow up, and long to be children again. That we lose our health to make money and then lose our money to restore our health. That by thinking anxiously about the future, we forget the present, such that we live in neither the present nor the future. That we live as if we'll never die and die as though we've never lived." ~Anaïs Nin, Delta of Venus
