William Michael Floyd, 54 of Caney, Kansas passed away at his home on Wednesday, November 23, 2022.
William Michael Floyd was welcomed into this world on June 17, 1968 in Wichita, Kansas to Roger and Jetta (Savoy) Floyd. After graduating high school from Sedan High School, Bill received his bachelor’s degree in business from Ottawa University. He then continued his education, earning his master’s degree in Human Resources from Friends University in Wichita. While in school, Bill was a member of the Phillips 66 swim team through high school and played on the soccer team at Ottawa University.
On August 11, 2007, Bill married the love of his life, Shelli Easley. The two made their home in Caney. Bill managed Floyd’s Town and Country in Caney for 7 years, then Country Mart in Coffeyville for 5 years, then G&W Foods in Fredonia for 5 years and was currently managing the Family Dollar in Caney at the time of his passing. Bill was an avid KU Jayhawks basketball fan, and Kansas City Royals fan. He loved to collect Hot Wheels and Matchbox Cars. Through the years his collection massed to totals over 8 thousand. He could often be found cruising around Caney in his MGB convertible. Bill was also a big fan of Star Trek, collecting memorabilia and having movie nights, educating his family on all the shows.
Bill is preceded in death by is grandma and grandpa Savoy, grandma and grandpa Floyd, and his amazing grandson, Elliott, who he is united with again.
His memory will carry on with his wife Shelli, children, Brandon and wife Sierra, Eric and wife Brittney, Bryson, Cutter, and Dylan, 3 grandchildren, Ava, Lydia, and Liam Michael, parents, Roger and Jetta Floyd, brothers, Jay, and Austin, sister, Michelle, and numerous nephews and nieces. A Celebration of Bill’s life will be held at Potts Chapel in Caney on Monday, December 5th at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Bill’s name to the William Floyd Memorial Fund at Commercial Bank.
