William Giedl, 90, of Allentown, passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2024. He was the husband of Marie (Wunderler) Giedl, with whom he shared nearly 65 years of marriage this coming January. Born in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Joseph and Theresa (Nickischer) Giedl. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi R. C. Church, Allentown. He was an Army veteran. Before retiring, he worked for 35 years at Mack Trucks, and later for several years at the Lehigh Valley Auto Auction. He was the past Vice President of the Austrian Veterans Benefit Society in Allentown and an honorary member of the Coplay Saengerbund, where he enjoyed polka dancing with his wife for many years. He was an avid Phillies fan.
Survivors: wife Marie; son William and his wife Renee of Waycross, GA; daughter Donna Bonawitz Holzer and her husband Richard of Upper Macungie Twp; sister Margaret Schuch of Jacksonville, FL; 3 grandchildren MacKenna Bonawitz and her fiancé Christopher Lawless, Chandler Giedl and his wife Hope, Lindsay Giedl. He was predeceased by his brother Joseph.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 AM, Tuesday, November 19 at St. Francis of Assisi R. C. Church, 1046 W. Cedar St., Allentown, PA 18102. Calling hour will begin at 9:00 AM. Burial to follow with military honors at St. Peter's R. C. Church Cemetery, Coplay.

Bill, you are now relieved from your post. A job well done fellow veteran. America thanks you for your service to our country in the defense of freedom. The final battle is now over and peace has been restored. The final volley has sounded and taps is about to sound ending a successful career as a nation´s defender. Farewell fellow veteran.
