William Gordon Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by O'Donnell Funeral Home, Inc. - Allentown on Jan. 15, 2026.
William Walter Gordon, 88, of York, PA, passed away Monday, January 12, 2026, leaving a legacy of integrity, service, and an unbreakable devotion to his family. A Harrisburg native and Bishop McDevitt graduate, Bill was a man who thrived on a challenge. He walked onto the football team at St. Vincent College as a scholar-athlete before entering the US Army. He later earned his CPA via Indiana University. After a distinguished career with Ernst & Whinney and Ness & Co., and serving as CFO for Sheridan Press, he successfully founded his own accounting firm.
To his children, he was simply the "best father ever." He dedicated his life to teaching them hard work and dedication as well as to fish, hunt, and crab, and mentored many more through the Spring Grove Youth League. An avid photographer, Bill spent a lifetime documenting his family's milestones. His faith was his compass; he managed the finances for St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and volunteered at Our Daily Bread soup kitchen. Bill never stopped learning and growing-he learned to ski at 60 and spent his later years cycling the local rail trails and traveled the world with family.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of 63 years, Anita Magnelli Gordon; his sister, Ann Pascarella (William); his children, Gregory (Jessie), Geri (Royal), Scot, and Eric (Elisa); eight grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his son Marc Gordon and his sister Kathryn Jones.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday January 23, 2026, at 11:00am in St. Joseph the Worker Church,1879 Applewood Drive Orefield. A gathering of friends and family will be from 10:00-11:00am in the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in William's memory to St. Jude's Children's Research, or Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen, care of the funeral home, 908 Hanover Ave. Allentown, Pa 18109. Donations can also be made to Serenity Hospice, 3893 Adler Place, Suite 101 Building B, Bethlehem, PA 18017.
