William "Bill" Wesley Griffith, 78 of Ankeny, formerly of Cambridge, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at Bishop Drumm Care Center in Johnston.
Bill was born March 1, 1946, in Des Moines, IA, the son of Homer and Ruby (Clark) Griffith. He graduated from Maxwell High School in 1964 and attended mechanic school in Omaha, NE. Bill also served in the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Mary Lovell on January 31, 1976, in Indianola. Bill retired from the DOT (West Des Moines location) and spent his free time woodworking and doing metal fabrication. He also enjoyed model trains and antique cars, especially his 1940 Ford Coupe.
Bill is survived by his wife Mary of Ankeny; his children Pat Griffith and Marsha Griffith-Garrison; his stepchildren Jack (Terri) Kuhns, Jeffrey Kuhns and Janine Elwell; 16 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his son Joseph (Barbara) Kuhns.
A visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home (1418 Fawcett Pkwy) in Nevada. A graveside service will follow at Center Grove Cemetery near Cambridge.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family in memory of Bill.
