William Hoeffel Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rodenberger-Gray Funeral Home - Napoleon on Aug. 26, 2022.
William Bill Lawrence Hoeffel, 83, of Napoleon, Ohio passed away peacefully at his home on August 25, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Napoleon on November 23, 1938 to Lawrence and Mary Rose (Thompson) Hoeffel. On November 21, 1981, he married Rebecca Becky Witte) Palmer and she preceded him in death on May 5, 2020.
Bill grew up on the family farm where he learned an extraordinary work ethic. He was a Napoleon High School graduate and attended THE Ohio State University for a short time before proudly enlisting in the United States Army. He was a production supervisor at Foster Canning often bragging that he never missed a day of work. Bill and Becky enjoyed bowling as well as coaching youth bowling at the River City Bowl-A-Way for twenty plus years. Bill was an avid sports fan cheering for the Buckeyes despite his wife s love for the team up north. He and Becky moved to Missouri in 2000. Their time in Missouri was spent traveling and making lifelong friends. He appreciated the company of his friends while enjoying a Bud Light. He was an enthusiast supporter of the Kansas City Sporting club where he spent countless hours at the soccer field. Bill never met a stranger, often offering words of wisdom and imparting his witty Dad-isms for all to enjoy. Bill s love of family was evident by all the family pictures that adorned his walls. His annual pumpkin hunting with his grandchildren will be forever cherished.
Bill is survived by his children, David Hoeffel, Karen Kessler, Cindy (John) Sabo, Mary (Dean) Detmer, Amy (Rick) Hoffman, Tom (Kelly) Hoeffel, and Marilyn Palmer; previous wife, Norrine (Westhoven) Hoeffel; 19 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and siblings, Ed (Mary Catherine) Hoeffel, Mary (Ed) Hesselschwardt and Grace (Mike) Speiser. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Deb Parker; son-in-law, George Kessler, Jr.; and siblings, Ann Hoover Schnitkey, Betty Meyer and Joe Hoeffel.
Friends and family will be received at the Rodenberger Gray Funeral Home, Napoleon, on Friday, September 2, 2022, from 3:00pm until 8:00pm. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at 11:00am with an hour of visitation prior to service. Interment with military honors presented by the American Legion Post #300 will take place at St. Augustine Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice.
