William Donald Jackman

Bill Jackman was taken by the Great Spirit on May 26, 2025 at the age of 92. He resided in Citrus Heights, near Sacramento, California. He joins his mother and father, W.H. and Etta Jackman, Uncles Bruce Cox, Eddie Cox, R.E. Cox, many other relatives, friends, and his ancestors. He is survived by his son William Kyle Jackman.

He was born in Cushing, Oklahoma in 1932. He attended grammar school at Jefferson Grade School in Ponca City, Oklahoma. He graduated High School in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. He participated in most sport activities. Baseball interested him the most. He started on his degree at Oklahoma A&M in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Then signed up with the Army Engineers. He served 2 years in the Army Engineers in Germany.  He then finished his Bachelor's Degree in Biology at Southwestern Missouri Teacher's College in Springfield Missouri, obtained his Masters Degree in Education and Counseling at The University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.  He had jobs in quality control and health inspection before moving to Davis, California. There he was employed as a teacher and counselor for 35 years before retiring.

After Bill retired he threw himself into many other hobbies. He owned a gold claim and enjoyed panning for gold. He was an excellent musician, played the banjo, guitar and even a little tambourine. He could write songs as he was playing them. He and his brother, Bob, also wrote poetry. He was passionate about photography and worked on his computer to a make artistic rendering of the images. His favorite subject matter was his family and ancestors, and left these wonderful memories to all of us.

No formal funeral services are being held.

His ashes are to be interred in the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery’s veterans plot.
