William Jude King, 64, known to his friends and family as Bill, died January 4, 2026 at the Big Spring Center for Skilled Care. Memorial service will be 4 PM Saturday at Myers & Smith Chapel.
He was born on July 12, 1961, in Corpus Christi, Texas. He moved to Big Spring as a small child and spent the rest of his life calling it home. He worked for the Big Spring Police Department as a Sherrif's deputy for nearly 20 years. When he retired due to illness, he spent time working as a librarian for the Howard County Library and teaching law enforcement classes at Howard College. His hobbies included writing, watching cheesy action movies and being a motorcycle enthusiast.
He is survived by his daughter, Kristin King and son in law James Perez of Big Spring; his sister, Elizabeth Treece and her husband William Treece of Big Spring; his sister-in-law, Alma Lou Walker and her husband Leroy Walker of Big Spring; his brother-in-law, Jack Birdwell and his wife Sharon Birdwell of Pflugerville; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends too numerous to list.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 25 years, Wanda King; his son, Sterling McIntosh; his brother, James David King; his parents, David and Susan King; and his son-in-law, Jon Daniel Campos.
Arrangements are by Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Pay your respects online at www.myersandsmith.com.
