William Lee Obituary

William E. Lee, Jr, Bill Lee passed away peacefully at home on February 2, 2026 surrounded by his family. A lifelong resident of Attleboro, MA, he was born on May 18, 1951 to Eleanor Lee (Baker) and William E. Lee, Senior. He graduated from Bishop Feehan Highschool in 1969, then went on to attend Northeastern University and SMU (now UMass Dartmouth), earning a degree in civil engineering, followed by a Master's degree from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester.

Bill had a long career in the construction industry, building and renovating many buildings in Boston and the surrounding areas. Some of his favorite projects were the implosion of the old Travelers Insurance Building in 1988 followed by the construction of the ornate 30 story 125 State Street Building, renovation of the historic Boston Opera House with Suffolk Construction in 2003-2004, and construction of the William X Wall Experimental station in Lawrence, MA, which houses environmental protection laboratories.

Bill loved camping, hiking, and being in nature. Some of his favorite places to spend time were the White Mountains of New Hampshire, Newport, RI, Camden, ME, and Fort Meyers Beach, FL. Some of his other favorite trips were to California and Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji. He served as leader of Attleboro Boy Scout troop 25 for over a decade, from the time his son Kevin was in Cub Scouts until he finished his Eagle badge.

Bill enjoyed many hobbies, including restoring his early 1900's apartment building, sailing, music, hiking and traveling. By his later years, he had collected a music catalog spanning from the 1940s-2020s and DJ'd parties for family and friends, including weddings, Bishop Feehan class reunions, and parties at the East Greenwich Yacht club where he kept his sailboat.

Bill is predeceased by his sister Nancy Wheeler, of Pascoag Rhode Island. He is survived by his wife Sharon, daughter Katie Lee, son-in-law Brendan Kolts, son Kevin, daughter-in-law Elizabeth Lee, and grandchildren Jenny, Alexis, and Zachary Lee. His surviving siblings are Kathy Keeton, Debbie Normand, brother-in law Paul Normand, Donna Manzella, and brother-in-law Roy Wheeler.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 4-7 PM on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck Street, Attleboro.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Friday, February 6, 2026 at St. John the Evangelist Church, 133 North Main Street, Attleboro. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Attleboro.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Blood Cancer United or Saint Jude's Children's Hospital.
