NORTH ATTLEBORO – John Patrick Leydon, 74, a lifelong resident of North Attleboro, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro.
Born on April 8, 1951, in Boston, he was the loving son of the late John and Mary (Duggan) Leydon. John grew up in Boston before moving to North Attleboro at a young age, where he spent the remainder of his formative years. He was a 1969 graduate of Bishop Feehan High School in Attleboro.
John obtained his Commercial Driver's License and began his career as a truck driver with Teamsters Union Local 25. He later transferred to Teamsters Local 170 and retired from the union before continuing to work for Entenmann's Bakery, where he officially retired.
John had many passions throughout his life. He loved cycling and camping-especially on Cape Cod, one of his favorite places-and enjoyed fishing whenever he had the chance. He had a special place in his heart for animals and was deeply proud of his Irish heritage. A devoted New England and college sports fan, he also loved cars, owning many over the years and taking pride in working on them. Above all, John cherished time spent with his adoring family, especially his grandchildren.
He was the devoted father of John Leydon of Rehoboth, MA; Laura Leydon of Little Compton, RI; Patrick Leydon and his wife Jennifer of College Station, TX; Jenna Zolla and her husband Michael of Roanoke, TX; and Scott Leydon and his wife April of Danvers, MA. He was the cherished grandfather of Sophia, Alanna, Leo, Ralph, Henry, Cameron, Ella, and Luca. He also leaves several nieces. John was the brother of the late Richard Leydon and Mary Forget.
A private celebration of life will be held at a time and place to be announced.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Sperry-McHoul-Pichi Funeral Home, North Attleboro, MA.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in John's name to the North Attleboro Animal Shelter, 40 Cedar Road, North Attleboro, MA 02760.
