William E. Lodovico, 63, of Bristol, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at Ingraham Manor surrounded by his loving caretakers and family.
William (Bill) was born in Bristol, CT on February 24, 1961, and was the son of the late John A. and Frances (D'Addabbo) Lodovico Sr. He was a proud graduate of Bristol Central High School and earned his bachelor's degree from Central Connecticut State University. Bill grew up with a strong sense of faith and Italian roots, attending St. Anthony's School in Bristol, where his values were instilled at an early age and remained a guiding force in his life.
With a passion for life, Bill loved spending time with his friends at the Italian Social Club, playing a round of golf, running road races with his family, and cheering for the New York Yankees and the Giants. Throughout his 30-year career in financial services, Bill built a large network of lasting friendships, many of whom became like family to him. His friendships, forged through both work and childhood, remained a constant source of joy and support throughout his life. However, it was spending time with his daughters, grandchildren, and siblings that meant the most to him.
Bill leaves behind his daughters, Jillian Flaherty and her husband Ryan Flaherty, Gina Lodovico and her fiancé Connor O'Neill, and Venezia Lodovico. He is survived by his brother, John Lodovico Jr. and his wife Bonnie Lodovico, his sister Ann Lodovico Taylor and her husband John Taylor, his sister-in-law Suzanne Lodovico, and his cousin, Frank D'Addabbo, who was like a brother to him. He is predeceased by his brother, Paul Lodovico. Bill was also a proud grandfather to his grandsons, Cameron Flaherty and Hudson Flaherty, who brought him so much happiness. He was a loving uncle to his nieces Chrystal Lodovico Kozak, Ashley Lodovico Sloate, and Chelsea Lodovico, and his nephews Patrick Taylor, John Lodovico, and Andrew Taylor.
Bill endured a long and difficult journey with early-onset Alzheimer's, a disease that slowly and relentlessly took pieces of the vibrant, loving man so many knew. Despite his quiet courage and efforts to fight, the disease gave little warning and no reprieve. He is finally at peace-whole again and restored to the person we will always cherish: a loving father and grandfather, devoted brother, uncle, and son, and a loyal friend to so many.
When you think of Bill, please remember his larger-than-life personality, his infectious laugh, and his bright smile. Above all, remember how he always strived to make others laugh, lighten difficult moments with a well-timed joke or a lighthearted word, and how deeply he cared for those he loved.
A Mass of Christian Burial for William will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at 10 AM at St. Frances de Sales Church, (St. Anthony Campus) 111 School St., Bristol, CT 06010. Everyone is asked to meet directly at church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, 522 Terryville Ave., Bristol. Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 27, 2025, from 4-7 PM at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, CT 06010. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to The Alzheimer's Association in his honor. Please visit William's memorial page at www.FunkFuneralHome.com
