William Arthur McBurney, 22, of Waymart, PA, formerly of Portsmouth, Virginia, died Saturday, August 17, 2024 in Cherry Ridge Township, from injuries sustained in a tragic accident.

Born June 29, 2002 in Portsmouth, Virginia he was the loving son of William and Laura (Williford) McBurney who both survive him.

Will was a graduate of Manor High School, Portsmouth, Virginia. He went on to serve two years in the United States Navy prior to his Honorable Discharge. Will was an outgoing young man who cared deeply about others. His family was his life. Will also enjoyed fishing and the outdoor experiences of a peaceful quiet and wonder of nature. His pride and joy was his little girl, Hazel. Will adored her and found pure fulfillment in being a Dad.

Will is also survived by his beloved fiancé, Rachael Cutler of Waymart; his daughter, Hazel; siblings, Dylan McBurney, Kait McBurney, Michael McBurney, Gabe McBurney, Justin Wilson, and Taylor Ball; and grandparents, Justyna and William McBurney all of Virginia. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at 11:00 AM at The Waymart Church, 596 Honesdale Road, Waymart, PA 18472 with Pastor Sal Maiorana officiating.  Visitation will be on Saturday from 10-11 AM in the church. 

There will also be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, September 14, 2024 in Portsmouth, Virginia.
