Lexington, Kentucky - William Alfred "Buddy" Mossbarger, Jr., 85, passed away peacefully with his family by his side January 14, 2024, in Lexington, KY. Born August 5, 1938, in Glendale, KY, he was the son of the late William Alfred Mossbarger and Olive Elizabeth Chenault. Buddy was co-founder and President of Fuller, Mossbarger, Scott and May Engineers, Inc. headquartered in Lexington where he retired in 2001. My sincere condolences to the Mossbarger family. My wife saw Bill's obituary in the Lexington Herald-Leader. We now live in North Las Vegas, NV and thus could not attend his visitation nor his funeral. Bill was an outstanding engineer and engineering leader. He knowledge and humor will be missed by all who knew him.

My interaction with him outside engineering organizations was a dam renovation project on the Kentucky River that Bill brought to the Senior Design Class at the University of Kentucky when I was the instructor. He did an outstanding job guiding the students through the design project and made arrangements for the class to visit the dam site. He also brought in company employees who worked on the project to the class to provide additional guidance. I truly appreciated his help and insights.

I knew Buddy very well from back in the early 1960's. He was an outstanding athlete, he played center field on the church softball team and was the center on the church basketball team. He was a good friend and a wonderful person in general. He will be missed by all that knew him.

We have lost a great man. I was fortunate to work for FMSM and learn from him. Bill had presence, that mat of gray hair, his size, and his integrity and reputation was so impressive to all of us. His word was chiseled in stone, and you could be sure it was correct. He could get the best out of people and when you got a smile out of him, it was to be treasured. I know, because I got a few frowns as well. He was strict, but really cared about his people and wanted them to be their best. He made sure we were taken care of before himself. I remember the Christmas parties with Bill handing out Christmas bonuses and know that he and the other partners made sure we got one even if they didn't. He was fair, honest, and a great engineer. He left a bit of himself in each of us and for that we are all richer in knowledge and in spirit. Condolences to Evan, Carol, Belinda and Dee. May God give you peace in knowing that his reward is in heaven, and he is re-united with your mom.

I remember Bill teaching me how to make mud pies and bake them in the oven at their offices on Virginia Ave. in 1966 or 1967. A great man that will be missed by many!!
