Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lewis Funeral Home - Navarre Chapel on Jul. 10, 2024.
William Shane Newcomb entered this world on September 8, 1974, and tragically departed it on July 5, 2024.
Shane was born, along with his twin sister, Susan, in Covington, Kentucky not long after his parents Bert Cecil and Linda Lou Newcomb made the courageous move to Northern Kentucky in search of a better life for their children, Shane's older brothers, Dwayne and Terry. A move that Shane would later find inspiration in when he made the same decision for his own young family and relocated to
Navarre, Florida in 2016.
Shane, lovingly referred to as "Nuke" by his peers, was a 1993 graduate of Simon Kenton High School in Kenton County, Ky. where he excelled as a basketball player for the Pioneers under Coach Dan Trame, a man he considered a role model for the remainder of his life. Shane made many lifelong friends growing up in Piner, Ky. but considered his childhood best friend, Wesley Siffel, another of his brothers.
After graduation, Shane joined his father's construction company and proudly worked in the industry for 31 years. He became a father for the first time when his daughter, Amber, was born and her younger brother, Andrew, followed soon after. When Shane's parents retired to their original hometown of Livingston, Ky., he joined them and there met his best friend and wife, Amanda, in 2003. Shane and Amanda had 4 beautiful children. Three sons: Pacey, Ison, and Deus and one daughter: Nova. His children were his entire world.
Shane was a devoted sports fan, rooting on his Kentucky Wildcats and Cincinnati Bengals every season. His favorite teams were the Fort Walton Beach Vikings Football & Basketball teams where he watched his children play every game. Shane also served as a basketball coach, football coach, and softball coach at Simon Kenton High School, Rockcastle County Schools, Navarre Youth Sports Association, and several travel organizations. He loved coaching his children, but also loved the sports, and teaching young athletes the valuable life lessons that only those sports can teach. Shane made hundreds of friends through his many years of coaching, a number of which became like family. And every player he coached held a very special place in his heart.
Shane was also an avid fisherman and enjoyed many days at the beach or on the water fishing and boating with his wife and children. You could find him at the local's spots after most home games, his favorite being Stripe's where he also spent a lot of time with his and Amanda's best friends, Justin and Karla Alexander.
Above all else, Shane loved and lived for his children. He was the epitome of unconditional and sacrificial love, always knowing exactly what to say to put a smile on their faces. He was a son, brother, in-law, cousin, nephew, uncle, friend, coach, husband, and father and he was taken from us all far too soon. Shane is and will forever be missed by everyone who had the honor of knowing him, because to know him was to love him.
He is now dancing with Jesus alongside his parents, who preceded him in death, but his legacy and memory will go on with us here on Earth.
To honor Shane's memory, a time of remembrance will be held at Navarre Youth Athletics Association, 8840 High School Blvd
Navarre, FL 32566. on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at 12:30pm for the public followed by a funeral service at 2:00pm.
Pallbearers will be his sons, Pacey, Ison, and Deus Newcomb, nephews, Dustin and Christopher Wagers, brother-in-law, Timothy Wagers, and honorary brothers, Justin Alexander, Wesley Siffel, Bruce Love, Jake Wariner, Johnny Lewis, Eddie Todd.
Honorary pallbearers will be every child Shane had the pleasure of coaching.
