William Oatts Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home on Nov. 22, 2024.
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of William Cary "Dax" Oatts II, 49, of Hopkinsville, KY. Dax passed away unexpectedly at 7:33 AM CT on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center.
Born on January 1, 1975, Dax was the beloved son of Nancy Harlow Harbold of Hopkinsville and the late William Cary Oatts. He was a graduate of the University of Kentucky, where he formed lifelong friendships as a proud member of the FarmHouse Fraternity.
Dax had a deep love for life and being his true self. His witty humor could light up any room, bringing joy and laughter to all who knew him. A dedicated fan of the Dallas Cowboys and University of Kentucky Wildcats, Dax's passion for sports was unmatched. He also shared that passion with his community, spending years umpiring youth baseball and inspiring young athletes to love the game as he did.
Music was a cornerstone of Dax's life, especially metal concerts, which he attended whenever possible. His love for animals was evident in the care he gave to his dog, Kai, and his cat, Lilly, who brought him immense joy.
Dax's memory will live on in the hearts of his devoted family: his loving wife, Hanna Oatts; his mother, Nancy Harlow Harbold; his sister, Natalie Lynn Oatts (Jason) Davis; and his cherished pets. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, humor, and unwavering love for those around him.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM CT on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home, with Rev. David Tucker officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM CT until the funeral hour. Burial will follow in New Ebenezer Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hopkinsville Dog Park or the Christian County Humane Society, reflecting Dax's lifelong love for animals.
Dax touched many lives with his genuine spirit and boundless compassion. Though he may be gone, his laughter, love, and light will be felt by all who were blessed to know him.
