William W. "Bill" Oliphant

William W. "Bill" Oliphant, 75, of Vernon, beloved husband of 53 years to Millie (Peterson) Oliphant, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, August 25, 2025. He was born on July 8, 1950, in Lisbon, NH, one of three children to the late David and Joan (Wainwright) Oliphant.

Bill was a graduate of Rockville High School, Class of 1968. Following high school, he went on to receive his business degree from UConn in 1973. After his schooling, Bill enjoyed a lengthy 38-year career at Aetna Life & Casualty where he became a director in the Large Case Pension Department. Bill enjoyed many kinds of music from classical to country. His favorite pastimes were riding his Jeep on the beaches of Cape Cod and Cape Hatteras, as well as cheering on the UConn Women's Basketball team. Bill was a member of the First Congregational Church of Vernon for over 50 years where he was on the Board of Directors for the Hockanum Valley Daycare. His greatest treasures were his family and friends whom he loved dearly.

In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Oliphant and her husband Dritan Aranitasi of Beverly, MA; his son, Christopher Oliphant and his partner Alexandra Wiles of St. Augustine, FL; his three cherished grandchildren, Fatmir, William, and Alban; as well as his two brothers, Thomas Oliphant of Vernon, and David Oliphant and his wife Kathy of Richmond Hill, GA.

Bill's family would like to thank the Manchester Memorial Hospital Palliative Care Team and the many doctors and nurses whose compassion and care helped his family through a difficult time.

A Celebration of Life service will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, beginning at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Vernon, with a time of visitation prior to the service from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow in the church memorial garden. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Congregational Church of Vernon, 695 Hartford Tpke., Vernon, CT 06066.
