William D. Petitt, a cherished father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who passed away at the age of 90 on January 15, 2024, at his daughter and son-in-law's home, surrounded by love and family. He led a life adorned with joy, laughter, and faith, a cornerstone to all who knew him.
William, born on March 10, 1933, to William D. Petitt and Edna (Pope) Petitt, who precede him in death, enchanted the world with his humor and kindness. His beloved wife of 66 years, Joyce Petitt, his sister Gerry Bower, his grandson Chad Book, and his great-grandsons Xavier and Kameron Marshall have welcomed him with open arms in the life beyond.

His sister-in-law Christine Walston and her spouse John also cherish the many memories they created together.
William served with distinction in the United States Army, further dedicating 35 years of diligent work at DP&L. His commitment to service flourished through active participation in organizations like Campus Crusade, Mended Hearts, Holly Center, and TidalHealth Peninsula Regional. William's devout Christian faith was manifest in his involvement with the Christian Shelter and Allen Memorial Baptist Church, where he left an indelible impact.
Remembered as loving, funny, and faith-filled, William's life was a testament to the strength and warmth he provided to others. His was a life well-lived, full of moments that will continue to bring smiles to the faces of his family and community as they reflect on the joy he brought into this world.

Karen, Steve and family, I am just learning of your fathers passing. I am so sorry. I loved your Dad, he was such a jokester, always grinning and coming up with something funny. I know it was hard to let go but I also know you take solace that he loved the Lord! He is reunited with your beautiful mother and family. I will always smile when I think of your parents and how good hearted they were! My love and thoughts with each of you as you learn to live without him here on earthy!
love you,
Pam Wulff & family
