William "Bill" Ray Pettit - age 57 of Gallatin, Missouri passed away Saturday evening, July 6, 2024, at his home in Gallatin. Bill was born on August 5, 1966, the son of Ray Harrison and Sue (Cox) Pettit in Chillicothe, MO. He was a 1984 graduate of Gallatin High School. Bill was a member of Olive Baptist Church and was baptized at a young age. He married Stacy Rae Clausen on October 28th, 2015, in North Kansas City. Bill worked at Landmark Manufacturing for 36 years. He began as a press operator, a supervisor, then the master scheduler. Bill loved his family, especially his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews; he lived for everyone else. To know Bill, was to love Bill. If he met you, you were his friend and probably had a nickname. He was an animal lover and loved spending time outdoors. Golfing, bowling and fishing were favorites of Bill's. He excelled at woodworking. He could build and fix anything. Bill was the ultimate host for family get togethers; especially Superbowl parties. He often barbequed and smoked meats. Bill loved sports; he was a huge MU fan and even bigger KU hater. Bill loved the outdoors and took pride in his yard. He also inherited a passion from his father for "old things." Bill will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his father, Ray Pettit; mother, Sue Belsher and grandson, Ashton Pettit. He is survived by his wife, Stacy of the home; sons, Brett Pettit (Alyssa) of Plattsburg, MO, Jake Osborn (Samantha) of Lawson, MO, Mitchell Pettit (Jazmine) of Gallatin, MO, and Jonas Pettit of Gallatin, MO; ten grandchildren; sister, Sherri Smith (Chance) of Gallatin, MO; mother-in-law, LaRae Loyd of Winston, MO; beloved nieces and nephews; aunts, uncles, other extended family members and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Children's Mercy Hospital in care of the funeral home. A service celebrating Bill's life will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at the Gallatin First Christian Church. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Tuesday evening, also at the church. Friends may call from 9 AM to 4 PM, Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services at Hillcrest Cemetery in Gallatin. Arrangements entrusted to the care and direction of Stith Funeral Home in Gallatin. (660) 663-2117.
