William Cary "Bill" Porter

William Cary "Bill" Porter passed away at his residence on Friday, March 3rd, 2023, at the age of 69 years old.
Services will be graveside at, 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 3 2023, at the Olathe, Colorado Cemetery.
Bill was born on May 8th, 1953, in Houston, Texas to Dorothy Anne (Woodruff) and Carrol Allen Porter. He grew up in the Houston area and graduated High School in Silver City, NM. Bill moved to Montrose in 1990 moving from Hobbs, New Mexico. He married Kathy Lou Mullins on Dec. 19, 1991, in Montrose, Colorado at the Colorado Ute Community Center in Montrose, Colorado. They were part of the Spiritual Awareness Center Life Church. Bill owned Freedom Services where he did embroidery, laser engraving and stamps.
When Bill was not working, he enjoyed mail art, photography, painting, fishing and stamp collecting. He loved spending time with family.
Bill is survived by his daughters: Lisa Chavez (Scotty) of Magnolia,TX and Shiela McCaffrey of Franklin,TN; sons: Jimmy Joe Campbell (Brandy) of Lovington, NM and Carrol Porter (Dawn) of Midland,TX; sister Allison Hunter of AZ; 11 grandchildren.
Bill was proceeded in death by his parents.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.

I never had the opportunity to meet Bill Porter in person but for the last year or two, we corresponded with some regularity, mostly about his art projects and the stamps that often highlighted it. He was a fine Christian gentleman and I will miss him.
