William "Bill" Vincent Rosecrans, 94, of Winfield, KS passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at William Newton Hospital.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield. There will be a time of visitation from 5-7 P.M. on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the William Newton Hospital Auxiliary. Donations may be left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home.
Bill was born in Winfield, KS on September 11, 1930 to Vincent and Elizabeth (Benedict) Rosecrans. As a young man he became an Eagle Scout. He graduated from Winfield High School in 1948 and later graduated from Kansas State University in 1952 after studying soil conservation. Bill was united in marriage on May 31, 1953 to Patricia Taylor. They resided in Sublette, KS while he worked for the soil conservation service. Bill was a member of ROTC and the National Guard. He was then later called up in 1955 and was stationed in Ulm Germany in an Army Artillery unit during the Korean War. Following his military service, Bill and Pat resided west of Winfield on the family farm where Bill farmed until 1991. Not only was he a successful farmer, he excelled at welding and building many things for the farm and hog operation. Pat preceded him in death after 57 wonderful years together. In 2011, Bill married Dollie Hutto and together they enjoyed their lives living at Cumbernauld Village.
Bill was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Kansas Farm Bureau, VFW, American Legion, William Newton Hospital Auxiliary and First United Methodist Church. His hobbies included reading, golfing, and hunting. Bill also enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether that was boating, waterskiing, or fishing.
Bill is survived by his wife Dollie, children Steve Rosecrans (Diane), Nancy Miller (Kent), step-sons Ron Hutto (Kim), and Mark Hutto (Amy); grandchildren Ryan Rosecrans (Luz), Lori Gordon (Russell), Kyle Miller (Ashlee), Craig Miller (Brie), Emily Wren (Josh); great-grandchildren Alice, Sadie, Zulianette, Kamilah, Alyssa, Amanda, Aleigha, Braylee, Bowen, Avery, Callen, Casen, Colton, Olivia, Michaela, and Luke. Hutto bonus grandchildren include; 7 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Patricia, and brother James (Jim) Rosecrans.
