W.D. Rowell, age 87, of Silverton, passed away, Friday, June 13, 2025 at his home. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 16, 2025 at the Silverton Cemetery. Arrangements are under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home.
W.D. was born to Aubrey Brook Rowell and Mae Pearl Jasper Rowell on June 11, 1938 in Whittenburg, Texas. In 1946 the family moved from Phillips to Silverton. W.D. was a lifelong member of the Rock Creek Church of Christ. He attended Silverton School and graduated in 1956. W.D. married Peggy Jean Hollingsworth on June 12, 1958. He farmed until 1972 and then began working as a service technician for Ray Thompson Implement. In 1982 the family moved to Lindsay, CA and he managed a fruit ranch. Learning all about grapes, kiwis, nectarines and plums. They resided in California for 5 years before returning to Silverton. In 1987 W.D. began as a salesman for Briscoe Implement and retired in 2002.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Aaron June Cleveland.
W.D. is survived by his wife, Peggy Rowell of Silverton, two daughters, Donna Cleveland and husband Delton of Granbury, Connie Simpson and husband Mitchell of Silverton, one son, Will Rowell and wife Maryann of Silverton, seven grandchildren, Kelcy Balch (Brady), Haylee Seymour (Charlie), Matthew Maciel (Kelby), Mollie Ghervas (Catalin), Elena, Luke and Ella Rowell, two great-granddaughters, Brenlynn and Blakely Balch, one sister, Vaughnell Brannon (Joe) of Silverton. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Working in the yard and growing his beautiful flowers was one of his greatest hobbies. Many friends were made through the Seniors dance club that he attended for 9 years. He leaves his family with wonderful memories of love and support and will be so missed.
