William Harold Samms

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William Harold Samms, who departed this life peacefully on January 8, 2025, at the age of 79.
William was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. His legacy of love and dedication to his family will be cherished forever.
William was born on October 23, 1945, and grew up in Marmet, WV, to Kenneth Edward Samms and Erma Louise Samms, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Johnny Samms and Georgie Samms, and his sister, Donna Short.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Judy Samms, and his loving sisters, Anna Short and Debbie Kay Faulkner. William's memory will also live on through his favorite daughters: Tamara Marie Samms, Erma Dawn Wilson (Bubby), Sabrina Wills, and Cassie Samms. William was a proud and doting grandfather to Olivia Lima (Wender), Gabrielle Lahue, Luke Lahue, Kaylee Montgomery (Chris), Kadie Wilson, Daniel Coon II, Jackson Wilson, Isaiah Wills (Jordan), Colton Wills, Blake Jenkins, Sierra Jenkins, Dakota Morris (Victoria), Mikayla Workman (Luke), Brianna Workman, Aireona Workman, and Timara Pickron. He was also blessed to be a great-grandfather to Douglas and David Montgomery, Vivian and Lorena Lima, Wesley Morris, David Lahue, and Braxton Binion.
William served his country with pride as a Vietnam veteran and a member of the United States Marine Corps. His patriotism and dedication were hallmarks of his character, and he carried those values into his family life. He took immense pride in being a father, a papaw, and a great-papaw, cherishing every moment spent with his loved ones. William's love for his family was matched only by the love they had for him. He also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
A celebration of William's life will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at 3PM. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Semper Fi, William.
