William G. Sanner, age 93, of Erie, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday September 27, 2025, surrounded by family. He was born in Erie, on December 8, 1931, son of the late George J. and Catherine Eleanor (Niedzielski) Sanner.

Bill went to St. John's elementary school and graduated from Academy High School. He served in the Navy for four years, including during the Korean War. He was a plumber with the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union for many years until his retirement. He was an excellent handball player and loved competing in tournaments at the Downtown YMCA. He enjoyed walks outside, wintering in Florida and drinking beer. He had a great sense of humor, but most importantly, Bill was a wonderful husband and father.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, by an infant son, and by his brother, Richard "Dick" Sanner. Survivors include his loving wife of almost 63 years, Carol (Veiga) Sanner, one daughter, Christine Sanner, three sons; Douglas Sanner and his wife Lisa of Bellview, WA., David Sanner and his wife Annie of Erie and Daniel Sanner of Chapin, SC., four grandchildren; Lauren Sanner, Liam Sanner, Will Sanner and Savannah Sanner. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.

A private funeral mass was celebrated for family at St. Peter Cathedral. Burial followed on the family lot in Calvary Cemetery. Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th St. handled arrangements. Memorials may be made to St. Peter Cathedral, 230 W. 10th St. Erie, Pa. 16501.
