Bill Schwenker was a well-tenured educator in Oklahoma. He taught in the Newkirk, Ponca City, and Bartlesville schools, finishing his teaching career at College High School and Madison Junior High School.
He and his twin sister Betty were born on June 19, 1929, one of the first sets of twins born in the Bartlesville Memorial Hospital. Bill received his education in the Bartlesville and Barnsdall, Oklahoma publics schools, and attended Connors State College on a football scholarship. He married his high school sweetheart, Mary Campbell, and they attended College together. His college education was interrupted by the Korean War, where he served as a ship's electrician in the Pacific Ocean, and as a dry dock electrician in Hawaii. He finished his Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Industrial Arts Education from Oklahoma State University.
After retiring from teaching, and the passing of his beloved wife, Bill moved to Friendswood, Texas. He enjoyed many years playing with great grandkids and helping to take care of the farm animals.
He passed away on April 4, 2023, in Friendswood, Texas. Bill is preceded in death by his wife Mary, his parents, and several siblings. He is survived by his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held in June 2023 in Bartlesville.
