William Franklin "Bill" Starritt

Born: March 13, 1942 | Died: July 28, 2025

William Franklin "Bill" Starritt, age 83, of Maryville, passed away peacefully in his sleep at the family home on Monday, July 28, 2025. Born on March 13, 1942, in Vonore, Tennessee, to Paul Gray Starritt and Irene (Shirk) Starritt. Bill graduated from Vonore High School, where he was active in several clubs and sports, football being his favorite. After graduating, Bill enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era. Upon returning home, he began his 44-year career with ALCOA, Inc., where he earned the nickname "Duck". Bill married Glenda Jean Self on June 23, 1969. The following year, he was inducted into the Vonore High School Sports Hall of Fame. Two sons arrived in the following years, making his family complete. Preceded in death by: Glenda, his beloved wife of 45 years; his before mentioned parents; brothers and sister-in-law, Barney Ray Starritt, Kermit Earl Starritt (Margaret), William "W.T." Starritt, and Clayton Starritt; sister, Barbara Hagler (Tip); brother-in-law, Hoyt Ray Dotson, Sr. Survivors include: sons, Christopher Starritt and Anthony Starritt; sister, Peggy Dotson; brothers-in-law, Frank Self (Jodi), Allen Self; sisters-in-law, Pat Starritt, Gwen Starritt, Beth Starritt, Kay McCauley (Richard), Amy Dabney (Gregg), and Angela Yarbrough (Roger); special nephew and niece, Drew and Michelle Duncan; lifelong best friends, David Myers and Bob Long; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a multitude of friends. The family wishes to thank Bill's Amedisys Hospice team, special niece and caretaker Teresa Hughes, and his private nurses, Sarah Jones and Alexandrer Yager. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 1, 2025, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Biereley-Hale Funeral Home in Madisonville. There will be a private interment of cremains at a later date.
