William Patrick (Bill) Stellmach, 1966-2025
Bill Stellmach died suddenly of natural causes at his home in Salem, Oregon, on April 29, 2025.
Bill was born in Kalispell, Montana on December 6, 1966. Bill grew up in Sandpoint, Idaho; Missoula, Montana; and Hermantown, Minnesota, prior to his family moving back to Missoula when Bill was eleven.
Bill graduated from Sentinel High School in 1985, and he was a 1990 graduate of the University of Montana, Missoula.
Bill had a lifelong love of and appreciation for music, and he worked at Rockin' Rudy's in Missoula for over ten years, prior to his moving to Portland, Oregon, in 2000. Bill worked for Oregon State Parks in Portland and then for the Oregon Employment Department in Salem, Oregon.
In addition to his passion for music, Bill enjoyed interesting artworks, gardening, bread baking, billiards, and golfing and other outdoor activities with his friends. Bill maintained a childlike love of play throughout his life - everyone that ever drank a beer with, or played cornhole or dice with Bill, will forever remember his laugh and his smile. Bill's smile was maybe its biggest at family gatherings, especially while playing with his nephews.
Bill was a loving son, brother, and uncle, and he was a passionate friend. Bill was outwardly thoughtful toward others, reaching out countless times throughout his life with a quirky message, image, or meme. Bill was the kind of person to send you a custom mixtape or CD out of the blue, just because he was thinking of you. Bill had a gift for connecting with people, and with just a quick glance, you knew that Bill got you. Bill was often prickly, and he could drive you crazy, but he was always quick to forgive and to ask for forgiveness.
Bill is survived by his parents, Edwin and Peggy; brothers, Tim (Sara) and James (Julia); his nephews and niece: Jack, Gabriel, Gray, Joseph, Ezekiel, and Malachi; and his many friends. He was preceded in death by his niece, Ezri.
There will be a celebration of life for Bill on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Restlawn Funeral Home (201 Oak Grove Rd NW, Salem, Oregon), followed by a brief reception at the same location.
