William Thomas Stevens, Sr. "Tom"

July 16, 1949 - August 27, 2025

If asked where his heart called home when he was growing up, Tom would probably have said Holden, Utah with its majestic vistas, vast farmlands, beloved cousins and the original Stevens family farm. An Army brat, Tom was born July 16, 1949 to Caroline Stone Stevens and Col Garth Stevens in Albuquerque NM although he would be quick to add that he only lived there three months.

His discipline, integrity and amazing intellect earned him a spot in the USNA Class of 71'. Nuclear power was his focus and he served on the USS Bluefish nuclear submarine upon graduation. An engineer at heart, Tom started Performance Validation, a thriving ESOP company today that focuses on pharmaceutical and biotech validation. The culture created there reflects Tom perfectly: Integrity. Solutions. Respect & Professionalism.

Retiring to Emerald Isle NC in 2008, Tom was the general contractor of a major renovation of what many neighbors called a tear-down. Instead he created an inviting home at the beach.

Time to bring in the rest of the family: married to Carla Reynolds Stevens for almost 54 years, son Michael Garth (Dr. Melissa Veneracion) grand girls Lyla and Nora, son Bill Stevens (really a William Thomas Stevens JR), sister Catherine Stevens Pruett (Sam) and brother Dr. Garth Stevens.

The family welcomes donations to Rock Steady Boxing of New Bern. This is a tremendous organization supporting persons and families facing the challenges of Parkinsons disease.
