VARNER, William D. – of Clio, age 89, died on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at Maple Woods Manor of Clio. Private graveside services will be held on Monday, October 27, 2025, at Flint Memorial Park. Pastor Sarah LaRose officiating.
William was born on October 16, 1936, in Flint, Michigan, to the late William and Bessie (Davidson) Varner. He married the love of his life, Marilyn J. Luck, on January 24, 1959. They enjoyed many wonderful years together before her passing on May 12, 2020. William Retired from General Motors – Flint Truck & Bus in 1999 with 42 years seniority and was a member of the UAW Local #598. He was also a member of the Auto City Eagles Aerie #3485, and Flushing Moose Lodge #1437. William loved the freedom of traveling in his motorhome, the satisfaction of chopping wood, and took great pride in keeping his yard, field, and garden immaculate. He also enjoyed spending time at the racetrack sharing the thrill of his cars with his good friends and his nephew, Neil Decker.
Surviving are: Daughter, Tracy Diem; Granddaughter, Taylor (Brett) Beckley; 3 great grandchildren: Brayden, Brycen, and Brock; Niece, Linda (Roger) McCarron; Sister, Joan Harrington.
