Robert (Bob) Nodus, of Crystal, Michigan, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 21, 2025.
Bob was born to Joseph and Mary Nodus on February 27,1936, in Detroit, Michigan.
A proud Spartan, he played on the Michigan State University Men's Golf Team from 1954 to 1957 and earned a degree in Business. He remained a lifelong member of the Spartan Varsity Club. Following graduation, he served six months in the U.S. Army Reserves, stationed at Fort Lewis in Washington State in 1961.
That same year, he fulfilled his lifelong dream of becoming a professional golfer, competing in the 61st U.S. Open. From 1961 to 1965, he played on the PGA Winter Tour, continuing to share his love of the game as an Assistant Golf Professional at Bloomfield Hills Country Club, and later as Head Golf Professional at Eldorado Golf Course and Branson Bay Golf Course in Mason, Michigan. He later went on to take over the family business as owner and Golf Professional of Crystal Golf Course in Crystal, Michigan. He spent many years teaching, mentoring, and inspiring others through the game he loved.
In 1965, he married the love of his life, Nancy. Together, they built a beautiful life centered around family, friendship, travel, and golf. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Nodus, his wife, Nancy, and his brother, Victor Nodus.
He is survived by his daughters Diane (Don) Rydahl of Crystal, Michigan, and Carolyn Nodus of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; his beloved granddaughters Paige (MacKenzie) Norconk of Ada, Michigan, and Madison Nodus-Rydahl of Mount Prospect, Illinois.
He will be remembered for his kind heart, quick wit, and numerous golf stories, driven by his passion for the game that defined his life. We'll be planning a celebration of his life this spring at his treasured clubhouse in Crystal.
