Bill "Walleye" Walter entered eternal rest on Wednesday moring November 19, 2025, at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart.
He was born on October 17, 1957, in Sayre, PA, to William Walter, Sr, and Mary Fassett Walter. Bill was a graduate of the Wyalusing Valley Class of 1975. Bill worked in the bluestone industry for many years before joining Latona Trucking, from where he retired.
Bill was a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He was also an avid hunter and loved the old westerns. He played on numerous dart teams over the years, the last being Lovelton Hotel, a place he enjoyed visiting to relax and have a beer with friends. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandson, Connor, who was the apple of his eye.
Bill is survived by his wife, Susan, with whom he would have celebrated forty years of marriage on December 6th; his parents Mary and William Walter Sr. of Towanda; his daughter, Jennifer (Chris) Mitchell of South Abington; his sons, Joseph Walter of Jenningsville, Jacob (Andra Evancavich) Walter of Factoryville, John Walter of Jenningsville; and Michael Benjamin of Towanda; his grandson, Connor Mitchell; his step grandchildren, Lilli and James Mahler and Maelyn Evancavich; his brothers, David (Linda) Walter and Chris Walter; his sister, Darlene Ellis; and numerous nieces, nephews & cousins. Bill will also be missed by his loyal canine buddy, Gunner, and feline pal, Boots.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Walter and brother, Stephen Walter. Bill was a loving husband, father, and son who will be deeply missed and forever loved.
A Funeral Service for Bill will be held at the Sheldon Funeral Home, 459 Main St., Laceyville, PA 18623, on Monday, November 24, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Charles Bishop of the Transue and Elk Lake Community Churches and Father Joseph Kuriappilly of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, St. Mary’s of the Assumption Church officiating. Interment will take place at the St. Anthony Cemetery in Stowell, PA, immediately following the funeral service. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hunts for Healing, 3 Coburn Hill Road, Laceyville, PA, 18623; a local organization supporting Veterans.
