William H. Wells, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on November 12, 2025, at his residence in Smilax, Kentucky. He was 70 years old. Born on January 4, 1955, in Hyden, Kentucky, William lived a life deeply rooted in community and family.
He dedicated much of his professional journey to serving others as a former employee of the Brashear Funeral Home and the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home, and later retired from a long and fulfilling career in the coal mines. His commitment to his work was matched only by his passion for life outside of it.
William’s affiliations with the Full Gospel Church of Jesus Christ reflected his deep faith and the principles he upheld. His love for the outdoors was evident through his hobbies, which included hunting and fishing, as well as tending to his honey bees. He took great joy in these activities, often sharing them with his family.
Above all, William’s heart was devoted to his family. William's greatest joy came from spending time with his wife, children, and his treasured grandchildren. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ruth Turner Wells; two sons, Arthur Wells and Heather, and Josh Wells & Scotlynd and four grandchildren, Wilson Wells, Brianna, Lindsey Wells, William Wells, and Bentley Wells. Additionally, he leaves behind two great-grandchildren, Sophia Wells and Madilyn Wells, as well as a host of brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews who will remember him fondly.
William was preceded in death by his parents, Wilson Wells and Elva Kilburn Wells, along with a host of brothers and sisters. His legacy of love, faith, and dedication will continue to resonate with all who were fortunate to know him.
