William Lee Whaler of Paoli, Oklahoma, passed away from this life on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at the age of 74. William was born to Jennie Whaler on April 23, 1949, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
He leaves behind a legacy of love. William is survived by his wife of 41 years, Kay Fowler; three children, Zanae Whaler-Craig and husband George, Bobby Fowler and wife Weleaha, and Michael Fowler and wife Tonya; his grandchildren, Taaz Whaler, Shane Whaler, Christopher Phillips, Brenden Fowler and wife Rosa, Braden Fowler and wife Ashtyn, and Braxton Fowler, Kerri Fowler, Jerri Keim and husband Cale, Terri Pierce and husband Ben. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Charlie Whaler, and Michael Whaler. He is preceded in death by two sons, Connley "Bear" Whaler, and Kenneth Fowler, as well as his brother, Kenneth Whaler.
When he was a young man, William was drafted into the United States military, serving in the Army. Stationed in Germany, he fought for his country during the Vietnam War. He went on to have a long and successful career working for Tinker Air Force Base, retiring as a piece part delivery driver. He was an avid fisherman, a highly skilled pool player, and in his younger years, could often be found running around Tahlequah, hanging with his buddies, and swimming in the Illinois river. However, nothing else came close to the joy he felt when he was spending quality time with his beloved family.
As we reflect on a life well-lived, let us remember William "Bill" Lee Whaler for his unwavering dedication to his country, his devotion to his family, and for all the good he accomplished during his time on this earth. He will be missed, and his memory will live forever in our hearts.
We love you Papaw.
