William "Bill" Eugene Wheless
Bill Wheless of
Greenville, South Carolina passed away on December 20, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was 90 years old. He lived with a kind and generous spirit, immense talent, and a heart for others that touched everyone who knew him.
He was blessed with a rich baritone voice, which led him to perform on Broadway in his early years. He later shared that gift for more than 25 years as a member of the choir at Westminster Presbyterian Church. He worked in broadcasting at WYFF and later founded Wheless Communications where he devoted himself to helping individuals and organizations communicate with confidence and authenticity.
He was a master communicator and his guidance shaped careers and helped countless young people find their voices. He always assumed the best in others and offered grace without hesitation.
He was married to the love of his life, Roberta "Bobbi" Anne Marshall Wheless, for 67 years, a partnership defined by love, devotion, humor, and unwavering support. He adored her, and their bond was the foundation of their family
He was the son of Mary Myrtle Thompson and Robert Glenn Wheless and is survived by a large and loving family including his wife, Bobbi; his sister, Pat Biggers (Alan); two daughters, Gigi Lattimore (Ed), and Mimi Edgar (Michael). He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Billy.
He leaves behind five grandchildren, Mary Glenn Lively (Jeremy), Caroline Glazebrook (Stephan), Lizzie Cook (Bryson), Anthony Rossitto (Morgan), and Elli Edgar along with three step-granddaughters, Luci Nelson (Tripp), Beth Hardin, and Becky Kowalski (Adam), seven great-grandchildren, and three step great-grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Bon Secours Saint Francis for the extraordinary kindness and compassionate care they provided and offer special thanks to Penny Cooper, Lara Wheless, and Kay Moore, for their invaluable support during this time.
To honor his memory, the family invites donations to Aid Upstate and The Greenville Humane Society.
