Willie Jerry Butler was a Father, a Son, a Brother, an Uncle, a Nephew and a Cousin. He was born the son of many births by his parents Reverend Obie Butler Jr. and Reverend Gloria Butler. He was one of a set, a twin! He was born July 27th, 1961, in Oklahoma City; he is the eldest twin, because he came into this world first by seven minutes prior to his look-alike brother, Wilber.
Willie was a Christian and a true born-again believer in JESUS CHRIST! He loved the Lord but was not always able to attend church due to his illnesses that sometimes would leave him bed-stricken for days.
Willie graduated from Wyandotte High School in KCKS, after which he began to pursue a job as Grounds Keeper for the Wyandotte County Housing Authority in KCKS, in which he worked for a number of years before finally deciding to start his own lawn service, which is how he met his then wife of many years, Glenda Williams and her two sons, Monquit (Muff) and Wayne Williams; he loved the children as though they were his own and even now they are seen as his sons and our nephews. Their sister is also seen as a daughter.
Willie had many wonderful talents such as painting and drawing, but one of his favorite talents was cooking, you could not beat him at cooking even if you tried because his Cajun was Raising! And his secret sauce was the boss!
When you met Willie, he met you as a friend and not as a stranger because he loved people and talking to people too; getting to know people was how he was able to meet his second love, Mary, who carried their twins. Unfortunately, they did not survive shortly after birth; this hurt Willie to his core, but he put his trust into the Lord.
As time went on and in his final chapter in his life, Willie met another strong woman whom he had strong feelings for named Bessie
Kelly, who looked after him and cared for him until he passed away.
Willie will be missed by so many that loved and cared about him; not everyone could be named but know that he loved, cared, and prayed for you!
Willie is preceded in death by his wife, Glenda Butler; his twins; his paternal grandparents on both sides of his family, Reverend Obie Butler Sr. and Mrs. Pearlie Mae Butler of Oklahoma and Reverend Tucker Herron Sr. and Mrs. Margaret A. Herron of Jackson, Mississippi; his father, Reverend Obie Butler Jr, of
