Our loving mother, Wilma J (Sauer) Failing, passed May 20, 2025 at the age of 88. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Gene L Failing, her parents, William and Katherine Sauer, and 7 siblings. Survived by 6 children, Norman Failing, Nadine (Failing) Corbett, Norine (Failing) Wilson, Quentin Failing, Katherine (Failing) Helm, and Wendy (Failing) Cordero, 2 daughters-in-law, 3 sons-in-law, 14 Grandchildren and 29 Great Grandchildren.
God, family, friends and community were Wilma's greatest passions. She devoted her life to being a home maker, raising her children, loving on her grandchildren and great grandchildren, making life long friends and serving her community.
She was born in Valley City, ND on August 5, 1936, met her husband in Nashua, MT and was married at the age of 19 on October 1, 1955. They moved around a lot and finally landed in Campbell, CA with 6 children in tow in 1966. Wilma was a wife and home maker, worked a few years in retail, drove a bus for special needs kids (who absolutely loved her), and spent as much time as possible with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, each of which was special to her. She and Gene moved to San Andreas, CA in 1999 and built their dream home. After becoming a widow in 2004, she moved to Angels Camp, CA in 2005 where she joined the congregation of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and led the Alter Society for many years. She developed a close circle of friends that she supported through different challenges and they in turn supported her. She passed peacefully at her daughter's home in Loma Rica, CA with the loving care of her children.
Mass service will be Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 11:00 am at St.Patrick's Catholic Church, 620 S Main, Angels Camp, CA. 95222. Memorial reception immediately following at the church hall 12:00 - 1:30 pm. Private internment at Altaville Cemetery at 2:00 pm.
Many thanks to Sutter Care at Home Hospice of Yuba City for providing such loving care to our mother. A special thanks to Valeria, the Hospice Aide, that gave mom the best spa day on the day that she passed. Mom always loved her visits.
