Wilma Ellen Smith, 90, passed from this life Friday, August 18, 2023. She was born November 16, 1932 in Weatherford, Texas where she lived most of her life. She graduated from Weatherford High School in 1951. Wilma married Douglas Dean in 1952 and together they raised three children. Later in life, she met and married Bill Smith from Colorado. Wilma worked as an administrative assistant for various companies throughout her life, but her true passion was loving and caring for young children, including many of her own family members.
Wilma is preceded in death by her parents, Wilmer and Lucy Anderson; her husband, Bill Smith; her brother, David Anderson; and her grandson, Ryan Taylor. She is survived by her daughters, Gaye Doran and husband, Randy, Elaine Taylor and husband, Dewayne; her son, Mark Dean; her sister, Bonita Mathis; five grandchildren, Doug Taylor, Audrey Joe Dean, Will Doran, David Dean, and Emily Long. She also leaves fifteen great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.
Her faith in Jesus Christ carried her through her many joys and sorrows in life. She leaves a legacy of faith, love and lots of laughter. Wilma was a treasure and will be missed.
Please join us for a celebration of her life on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., at the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, located at 913 North Elm Street, Weatherford, Texas 76086. The memorial will be followed by a family graveside service and gathering at the home of Lanie Taylor.
