Wilma V. Weiss, 97, of Bethlehem, formerly of Nazareth and Jersey City, NJ, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, in Kirkland Village, Bethlehem. She was the wife of the late Walter M. Weiss who died in 2005 and the late George Snowflack who died in 1958.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, she was a daughter of the late John and Hilda (Mueller) Heumann.
Wilma earned a Bachelor's of Nursing degree from Jersey City Medical Center and was employed as a registered nurse in public health.
A very active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Nazareth, Wilma enjoyed singing in the church choir. She was the first female Church Council President during her years in Jersey City. She was always deeply involved in Lutheran Church activities both in Jersey City and Nazareth.
Wilma was a committed volunteer for various organizations throughout the years, including the Visiting Nurse Association, Literacy Program, Veterans Affairs Bedside Network and was a docent at the Whitfield House in Nazareth. She and her husband traveled extensively.
Surviving are a daughter, Susan Koeppen, and husband Doug of Port Murray, NJ; sons, Alan Weiss, and wife Lorraine of Northampton, Gerald Weiss, and wife Barbara of Lake Hopatcong, NJ and Robert Snowflack of Apollo Beach, FL; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son Maartin Weiss and a granddaughter Carla Weiss.
Services will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, February 4, in the Pearson Funeral Home, 1901 Linden Street, Bethlehem, PA. Family and friends are invited to call from 10 am – 11:30 am. Private burial will take place in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to St. John's Lutheran Church, 200 South Broad Street, Nazareth, PA 18064, or the Lehigh Valley American Cancer Society, 3893 Adler Place, Suite 170, Bethlehem, PA 18017. Online condolences may be sent to www.pearsonfh.com.
