Ms. Wilora Luppens

Ms. Wilora Luppens, was 89 years old when she transition from this life on August 23, 2022. At home with her daughter Alberta Jackson Sorrells and great-granddaughter Oriyauna Sorrells in Kansas City, Missouri. She was born on May 18, 1933 to Will and Susieannah Shorter in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. She was the youngest of several children.
She obtained her primary education in Ladd, Arkansas school system. She accepted Christ at an early age. She moved to Kansas City, Missouri in the 1950 s.
Wilora met Raymond Jackson in KCMO and one child was born to them Alberta Jackson.
Later she met and married Louis Bazart in 1963. They were married for several years and divorced. Then she met Ellsworth Luppens and they married in 1971 until his passing. They all preceded her in death.
Wilora worked for some restaurants here in KCMO as a cook. She also, worked for some Nursing homes as a cook and aide. In the 1970 s she worked for Robert Kleins at Kleins Fish and Poultry Co. on 33rd and Troost as Butcher for many years until Mr. Kleins retired. Then she worked for Barney Summers at the Missouri Fish Co. on 63rd and Prospect for many years and was Butcher.
She loved to go fishing every chance she got and would stay on the fishing banks for hours. She also, loved going hunting. She would aways be the first one with her poles in the water and the first one to catch a fish she didn t care what she would catch if it was a Fish, Turtle, Frog, Crawdad s she would catch it, clean, cook it.
Wilora was a member of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church under Pastor Curford E. Dixon, Sr. for 5 years until her passing. She was known as Granny to many of her family and friends.
Wilora is preceded in death by her parents: Will and Susieannah Shorter, one son John L. Stewart. Four sisters Equator Shorter, Minnie Mae Shorter, Beatrice King, Fannie Bearden. Four brothers, Illinois (Jill) Roe, Moses Roe, Eddie Roe Jr., Johnnie Lee Shorter and other older siblings. Husband Ellsworth Luppens.
Wilora leaves to mourn and cherish her memories leaves her only sister, Versie L. Crawford. Her Daughter: Alberta Jackson Sorrells. Her Grand Sons: Sheldon Sorrells (Christina), Waymon Dixon(Monica). Great-Grand Children: Danan Sorrells- Brown, Chandler Paines, Xion Sorrells, Oriyauna Sorrells, Montrell Dixon, Josiah Dixon, Kevon Dixon, Sa Myra Dixon, Deonta Dodd Young, Teyauna Diggins, Parrish Owens, Bryant Johnson. She also leaves a play daughter, Deborah McIntosh and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Friends that will miss her dearly.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, September 1, 2022, at Forest Hill Cemetery. Service conducted by Watkins Heritage Chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website.
